Just a warning for pet owners in the Katy area. I took my dog to get spayed by Vet Hicks. She passed away in his care. Have not received an apology or anything from Vet Hicks. I don't have a vet to recommend but i would encourage owners to find an alternative. There hasn't been a day go by i haven't regretted using his pet clinic.

I'm very sorry to hear about your dog. What happened? Was she perfectly fine before hand? What did they say happened?

I was in the recovery room when she passed. They let me back in because they said she was in the process of waking up. Didn't talk to anybody there after it happened. I was in total shock. Called Hicks the next day to ask what went wrong. He said nothing in particular and that

stuff just happens. No apology or anything. I have asked for a list of medicine and everything they did and he will not give it to me this info. Great Danes i am told need special care. They need to be kept warm after surgery so they will not bleed out.. Hicks did not even have 1 blanket on her, she was just on the floor. As far as i am concerned, he took a family member from me that can never be replaced. Under Texas Law, a pet owner basically has no rights. I could sue him and get 400 dollars but what is 400 to a guy who owns 2 pet clinics. I am just telling my story on every website i can find. This man has no moral ethics at all. Hopefully, somebody who knows will read about it on the internet, so he will feel pressured to tell me what happened. This is a 45 min procedure that lasted from 12:00 and she was just waking up at around 2:45. He did something and i just wanna know what. Sorry for the long winded response.

Very sorry for your loss. Went through a similar incident - diff clinic, diff state. Very frustrating and upsetting. Food for thought: AAHA accredited animal clinics maintain high standards. Next time you or anyone you know is in this type of emergency situation, check out the AAHA clinics online. There are several in and around our area. I would like to know when you receive an apology.

Still have not received an apology. Would mean nothing at this point. I do not think i will be able to get another pet after this. A lawyer has contacted me and he said he would take care of it for free. Also, is helping filing a complaint with the Texas State Board of Vets. Thanks for your response.
